During this year of Jubilee the Church also celebrates the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council, convened at Nicaea in 325. The gathering of bishops and theologians issued the Creed that unites Christians to this day. The lecture will consider how the careful phrasing of the Creed-- "precious gems arranged into a single crown" (Nicetas of Remesiana)--can inform our own prayer and spirituality.
